Open House at Snowdon Sanctuary

Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary will open its doors to the public for an open house on Saturday, Sept.29. The open house will run from 11am to 2pm with an owl program starting at 11:30am. A light lunch will be served followed by a tour of the facilities. The sanctuary cares for injured or orphaned wild animals with the hopes of returning the animals to their native habitat. Snowdon is located east of McCall at Lick Creek Road. Turn right at the end of the pavement. For more info call 208-634-8050.

Scarecrow Harvest Festival

Donors, sponsors and vendors are being sought for Cascde's Sixth Annual Scarecrow Harvest Festival Octover 19-21. Good news for smaller crafters is that a table can be rented for $25 and will include a covered space and the table itself. Applications can be found at Cascadechamber.com or call 208-382-4370. There will be scarecrow contests with categories of Live Scarecrow and Stuffed Scarecrow, with many prizes including a $1000 grand prize, and a "goodie bag" for every entrant. There will also be pumpkin painting, several raffles, silent auctions, and live auction for a couple baskets of goodies. Donations of prizes and straw are needed, as well as volunteers for setup! Thunder Mountain Train Line Partnership

The Thunder Mountain Line and Inidaho.com have announced a new central reservations partnership. Inidaho.com's reservations department now serves as Thunder Mountain Lines new central reservations department. The area's popular Thunder Mountain Lines has always offered their customers most enjoyable experiences of excursions along the scenic Payette River. And now, customers will also have access to Inidaho.com's extensive knowledge on accommodations. All aboard!

Armstrong Park "Brick" Fundraiser

A fundraising effort has begun to renovate Armstrong Park in Cascade. The effort would pay for new play equipment, an updated tot lot, a terrain park and other improvements. Between $20,000 and $30,000 is expected to be raised with the sale of personalized bricks that will be made into a walkway innside the park. A donation of $50 buys a 4 by 8 inch brick with three lines of text. Armstrong Park will be the site of the 6th Annual Scarecrow Harvest Festival October 19-21. Featured events include a live scarecrow contest and more than $1,000 in cash and prizes. For more info on the "brick fundraiser" call 208-382-1269.
